About Us
Our Story
The digital world is broken for millions of people. While the internet connects billions, it remains silent for the 16 million+ Bambara speakers who find almost no digital presence for their native tongue. Trying to navigate modern services in a language that isn’t your own isn't just a barrier, it’s an exclusion from vital information, digital services, and economic growth.
We knew we had to think outside the traditional tech box. We realized that if we could build the right AI infrastructure, we could bridge the gap between ancient cultures and future technology.
That is why we built DJELIA, the first AI-powered platform dedicated to Bambara. We’ve developed production-ready models for Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and Machine Translation. By delivering these through ready-to-use APIs, we enable developers, businesses, and governments to finally "speak" the local language of their users.
We are just getting started. Our journey began with the best-published Bambara ASR model, and we are already expanding to include Mandinka and other West African languages, ensuring that no culture is left behind in the digital age.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower African cultures digitally by providing the missing AI infrastructure for local languages.
We are democratizing access to technology. By offering a pay-per-use model with no subscriptions or commitments, we provide an equal opportunity for everyone, from a solo startup founder building a voice-enabled app to a major telecom improving its IVR services. We take the complexity out of local language processing so businesses can scale and reach millions of previously underserved speakers.
DJELIA was created by a passionate team of experts in machine learning, engineering, and growth, dedicated to solving the communication barriers in Africa.
With over 500,000 API requests already served, our team is committed to making DJELIA the heartbeat of African digital inclusion.
